Simonsen Sussman Welcomes Associate Kaitlyn McMillan

Simonsen Sussman is pleased to announce that Kaitlyn McMillan has joined the firm as an Associate.

Prior to joining the firm, Kaitlyn served as Enforcement Attorney at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Enforcement Counsel at the New York Department of Financial Services. Kaitlyn investigated and litigated violations of consumer financial protection laws across sectors, including debt collection, small-dollar lending, financial technology, and mortgage origination and servicing.

While at the CFPB, Kaitlyn served on detail as a Policy Advisor in the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Tax Policy, where she helped implement the Inflation Reduction Act’s clean energy tax incentives.

Kaitlyn earned her J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she was a Furman Public Policy Scholar, and a B.A. from the University of Virginia. While in law school, Kaitlyn worked for the National Economic Council in the Executive Office of the President, where she focused on supply chain crises and industrial policy. She also interned with the New Jersey and New York Attorney General’s Offices and the New York Legal Assistance Group, and she served as an Executive Editor of the Review of Law and Social Change.
