Overview

Kaitlyn is an Associate at Simonsen Sussman. Prior to joining the firm, Kaitlyn served as an Enforcement Attorney first at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and later at the New York Department of Financial Services. In those roles, she investigated and litigated violations of state and federal consumer financial protection laws. Her work spanned sectors including debt collection, small-dollar lending, financial technology, and mortgage origination and servicing.

While at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Kaitlyn served on detail as a Policy Advisor in the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Tax Policy, where she helped implement the Inflation Reduction Act’s clean energy tax incentives.

Kaitlyn holds a J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she was a Furman Public Policy Scholar, and a B.A. from the University of Virginia. While at NYU Law, Kaitlyn worked for the National Economic Council in the Executive Office of the President, where she focused on supply chain crises and industrial policy. She also interned with the New Jersey and New York Attorney General’s Offices and the New York Legal Assistance Group, and she served as an Executive Editor of the Review of Law and Social Change.

Before law school, Kaitlyn served as a Director’s Financial Analyst at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
