Simonsen Sussman LLP Submits Amicus Brief for Little Tech Association and Travel Lemming in D.C. Circuit Appeal in United States v. Google

August 2026 — Washington, DC — Simonsen Sussman LLP submitted a brief of amicus curiae on behalf of the Little Tech Association (“LTA”) and Travel Lemming LLC in United States v. Google LLC, No. 26-5023 (consolidated with Nos. 26-5047 and 26-5049) (D.C. Cir.). LTA represents more than 200 technology companies, including specialized vertical providers that compete with Google in markets adjacent to general search, and Travel Lemming is an online travel publisher. The brief draws on their experience to show how Google follows a consistent playbook: it monopolizes one market, leverages that power to distort competition in a related market, and then uses its unfair advantages in the related market to reinforce its original monopoly. The brief traces this pattern through general search, local search, generative AI, app stores, and ad tech. It also shows how the pattern is now cutting off the click-throughs that content creators depend on. In the first four months of 2026, 68% of U.S. Google searches ended without a click to an outside website. The brief supports affirmance of the district court’s remedy order, including its data-sharing and search index syndication requirements, which properly extend to GenAI rivals. It also argues that the remedy does not go far enough. The district court should have banned payments for default placement and preinstallation, required choice screens, and ordered the divestiture of Chrome.
