Thomas Mattes
Overview
Thomas Mattes is an Associate at Simonsen Sussman. Prior to joining the firm, Thomas was an attorney in the Technology Enforcement Division of the Bureau of Competition at the Federal Trade Commission. In that role, Thomas was a member of the trial team in FTC v. Meta Platforms and worked on investigations, rulemakings, and legislation concerning digital markets.
Thomas holds a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and a B.A. from Kenyon College. At Berkeley Law, Thomas served as Managing Editor of the Berkeley Technology Law Journal, externed with the San Francisco City Attorney's Office and the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Division, and graduated with Pro Bono Honors for his work with Central California Legal Services and the UC Berkeley Center for Consumer Law & Economic Justice.
Before law school, Thomas was an English teacher in Italy and a research administrator at the University of California, San Francisco.
