Overview

Nate is an experienced antitrust lawyer whose practice focuses on complex antitrust litigation, merger-related disputes, government investigations, and strategic competition issues.

Before joining the Firm, Nate served in the Front Office of the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition as an Acting Deputy Director, Associate Director for Merger Analysis, and Special Counsel for Merger Analysis, During
his tenure he oversaw dozens of investigations involving
pharmaceuticals, medical devices, semiconductors, technology, oil and gas, hospitals, and retail markets. He also helped manage the Bureau’s pre- and post-complaint merger litigation program.

Drawing on his senior agency experience, Nate develops and litigates antitrust claims by identifying theories of harm, analyzing market dynamics, and developing evidentiary records in complex competition matters. He also advises institutional investors on the antitrust and regulatory risks associated with announced transactions.

Before his government service, Nate helped found The Capitol Forum, an antitrust news and analysis service, and subsequently served as the organization’s general counsel, where he managed federal copyright litigation and other corporate legal matters.

Prior to joining The Capitol Forum, Nate was an Associate at an
international law firm, where he represented clients in complex
antitrust litigation and investigations and in merger matters before global enforcement agencies.

Nate holds a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School, where he served as an editor of the Minnesota Law Review, and a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.
