Overview

Brent is an Associate at Simonsen Sussman. Prior to joining the firm, Brent was an attorney at the New York State Department of Financial Services and at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, where he advised on federal and state banking law, investigated bank compliance with consumer finance law, and drafted regulatory revisions to streamline application processes.

While earning his J.D. at Columbia Law School, Brent interned at the Federal Trade Commission, where he researched legal issues for FTC v. Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits and FTC v. Deere & Co. He also interned at the Internal Revenue Service and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Before law school, Brent worked as a consultant and taught middle and high school math. Brent holds a Master of Materials Science and Engineering from North Carolina State University, and a B.A. in physics from Middlebury College.
