Simonsen Sussman is pleased to announce the addition of Partner and COO Jesse Payne-Johnson and Partner Nate Soderstrom to the firm.
Jesse Payne-Johnson
Jesse Payne-Johnson is a Partner and Chief Operating Officer of the firm, where his practice focuses on the intersection of the firm’s strategic, operational and legal needs. Jesse brings extensive experience advising a wide variety of institutions on both legal and business matters, including organizational design, governance, operations, growth and risk management.
Jesse previously served as Head of Legal for a venture-backed start-up operating in the consumer automotive space. As such, he oversaw the entirety of the organization’s legal and regulatory portfolio from early-stage capitalization through preparation for an initial public offering. Prior to attending law school, Jesse was an Associate and Consultant at a leading global management consulting firm in New York. Jesse holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and an A.B. from Harvard College.
Nate Soderstrom
Nate is an experienced antitrust lawyer whose practice focuses on complex antitrust litigation, merger-related disputes, government investigations, and strategic competition issues.
Before joining the firm, Nate served in the Front Office of the Federal Trade Commission’s Bureau of Competition as an Acting Deputy Director, Associate Director for Merger Analysis, and Special Counsel for Merger Analysis. During his tenure he oversaw dozens of investigations involving pharmaceuticals, medical devices, semiconductors, technology, oil and gas, hospitals, and retail markets. Before his government service, Nate helped found The Capitol Forum, an antitrust news and analysis service. Nate holds a J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School and a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.
